Buy for 5 700 ₽There are three ways to put a router on Bebra. Keenetic, OpenWrt and MikroTik routers run our app. Many others have an OpenVPN or PPTP client of their own that you set up by hand. Where there’s no client, Bebra goes on the devices themselves.
Updated
The app runs right on the router and signs in to your account using a code shown in your Bebra dashboard. You need an account with an e-mail address and an active subscription. Your TV, games console and everything else on the router then go through Bebra, and you can take devices off on the Devices tab of the router page. While the app reconnects, restarts or installs an update, the network behind it waits offline rather than going around Bebra. When the app is paused or the router is signed out, devices go online directly.
| Router | Requirements | Install |
|---|---|---|
| Keenetic, Netcraze | KeeneticOS or Netcraze firmware 5.0 or later, the OPKG component, one of 33 supported model codes | A single command in the router’s command line |
| OpenWrt | An official 24.10 or 25.12 build, at least 256 MB RAM, a root password set | A single command over SSH |
| MikroTik | RouterOS 7.23.8 long-term, 7.24.3 stable or newer; ARM64, ARMv7 or x86 including CHR; at least 256 MB RAM | Two lines in Terminal; the app runs in a container |
We tested the app on a Keenetic Hopper KN-3811. The app won’t run on the Air, Explorer, Extra, Lite, Speedster, Sprinter or Start, which have 128 MB of RAM or no USB port.
These routers dial out to Bebra themselves, with a login, password and server list from your dashboard (Router → Other routers). For OpenVPN, you import a .ovpn file into the router’s client and type the login and password separately. For PPTP, you enter the server IP, the same login and password, and MPPE encryption. PPTP is the weaker of the two, so it’s for firmware without OpenVPN.
| Router | Protocol | Menu |
|---|---|---|
| TP-Link Archer | OpenVPN or PPTP | Advanced → VPN Client |
| ASUS | OpenVPN or PPTP | VPN → VPN Fusion, or the VPN Client tab on older firmware |
| Xiaomi | PPTP only | Advanced → VPN → Add service |
| Tenda | PPTP only | VPN → PPTP/L2TP Client |
| Zyxel Keenetic | PPTP | Internet → PPPoE/VPN |
| Keenetic models the app doesn’t support | PPTP | Internet → Other connections |
That’s usual for D-Link DIR models and for routers supplied by internet providers. Their WAN settings may list a “PPTP + Dynamic IP” type. It replaces your current connection type rather than running on top of it, so it’s only worth trying if your provider assigns your address automatically with no login, and even then there’s no guarantee. The D-Link page explains how to check.
The fallback is the Bebra app on each device, from your computer and phone to a TV running Android TV or Apple TV. The other route is a second router that runs our app, plugged into the one you have, with your Wi-Fi coming from it.
One subscription covers the router app, manual setup and the Bebra apps for your phone, computer and TV.

Guest accounts don’t work on a router. Link an e-mail in the app on your phone or computer first (Account → Link e-mail). Then sign in to your dashboard with that address and click Get code in the Router section for a new code.
Your dashboard’s Router section has a list called Routers on your account. Click Sign out next to the router. It finds out within a few hours, six at most, and from then on lets devices go online directly until someone enters a new code on its page.
